It is understood that the Canterbury Rugby Union has offered our Union twenty-live pounds towards the expenses of a trip to Christchurch. This would be a nett lump Bum without any other participation. The Canterbury Union has, we understand, lour interprovinoial matches already arranged, and this .probably accounts for what-seems to'be alow offer.' We do not,'however, seo'that the limited nature of this proposed contribution should at all debar our men from going. Wo consider that if" they can only get an offer of equal value from the South Canterbury Union (who have not replied yet), and can see their way to making about £ls in Wellington, by playing there, the trip is quite feasible, The excursion would cost «bout £IOO. The revenue, from the sources we havo indicated, provided our'estimates are about, accurate, would return altogether '£6oi This would leave say £4O to be found by members of the team, or only £2 18s each, a very small personal outlay for such ian extended tour.
