Auckland Items. Auckland, July 10. Colonel Coetlogan, British Consul for Samoa, has written to the Mayor stating that there is a probability of a famine at Samoa, and that lie will receive, food contributions from tho people of New Zealand, A young man, aged 24, named 0, E. Northwood, one of tho contractors at Mareretu, was drowned in a stream there whilst floating timber.
