The match Greyfcown Fire Brigadi v. Masterton Juniors, Greytown wai victorious by 3 poiuts to nil. The Masterton Juniors are re quested to roll up for practice ever favorable night during the curreni week to get into form for the Carter ton match.
The Masterton and Te Ore Oro Clubs had an excellent practice on Saturday afternoon, The latter had the best of the garno, the former playing several men short. The heat for the Championship between the Poneko and Wellington Clubs'first fifteens was played at Newtown Park on Saturday, and resulted in a victory for the former by six points to nil. For the Junior Cup the Naval first beat Rival second by 4 points to 8,
Auckland, July 7. The proposed football match between the Auckland and Tauranga representatives has had to bo postponed indefinitely, owing to the fact that the steamer wliioli was to bring the players from Tauranga did not leavo that port in time.
Taratalu-Carterton Road Board. The ordinary monthly meeting of tlie Board was held on Saturday. Present—Messrs H. E, Bunny (chairman), J.Raynev, 6. W.Deller, E. W, Dorset, W. B. Allen, N. Grace, and E. S, Maunsell.
The minutes of the previous having been read and confirmed, the Treasurer reported a debit balance of 493 8s 7d. The amount of rates collected during the past year is L 1543 lGs lid, The balance-sheet was read and adopted, Correspondence inwards: From P, 0. Clark re drain pipes; from settlers at Kaiwhata, asking that monies received in the way of thirds |be spent in that district. Left to tlie Warden., Mr T. Price waited on the Board re some gravellm? being done near the railway line, no action was taken owing to tho absence of the Warden. Tenders for Main Road maintenance for 5 years, Mr P, Gritt. L 275; Henry Stevens, Ll7O 4s; J. Monagan, LIBO (accepted); M. Kearns, L 270; H, Pi. Burgess, L 191; W. Hansen, L 200; and W. Hercock, L3OO. Tenders for fencing 80 chains Norfolk Road, Kuoilio k Co., 10s lOd per chain (accepted); E. Wadliam, lis Gd, declined; W. Robinson k Co., informal, 10s Ud; H. R. Burgess, 11b sd, declined; J. Smith k Co, 18s; R. l'ield, lis 9d,. There were two applications for the office of ranger viz. E. N, Dixon and W. Ridgway. On the motion of N. Grace, seconded by G. W. Dellar, Mr E. N, Dixon received tlie appointment. Resolved That a general rate of f d in the £ be struck on all rateable property for the year confmencing from tho Ist April, 1880 to the' Ist March, 1890, payable in one sum on the 15th July, 1889. The ballot was taken for the retirement of four members in May next, which resulted in Messrs H. R, Bunny, E. W. Dorset, J, Rayner, and E. S, Maunsell being ballotted out. Air Stevens asked to be allowed to lay a traniway.-Granted under the usual .conditions. Several of the Wardens asked to have repairs done to the roads in their wards, and that tho lessee of tho Education reserve bo notified to clear Waitangi Creek', Park road, Sundry accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned,
