ENGLISH. London, July 8. Michael Davitt, in his evidence to-day, said Ireland was justified in asking separation froni Great Britain, provided.she was able to manage her own affairs. In reply to further questions he said he had resigned from the physical party and joined Mr Parnell because he found that by the policy adopted by tho former it was hopeless to expect to obtain tho desired °.nd, He wished to God that he was able to-morrow to make the land question a. stepping stone to getting separation for Ireland, He differed from Mr Parnell owing to the latter opposing the complote separation from Great Britain, hut lie supported Mr Parnell in believing the necessity for separation. Tho Eight Hon. W. H. Smith has announced his intention of moving for a Committee to report on tho principle that should govern settlements on members of the Eoyal Family.
FOREIGN. Paws, July 4. Disgraceful scenes have taken place in the Chamber of Deputies, owing to allegation that M. Bonvick is implicated with a relative in blackmailing. By an explosion of firedamp in a colliery, 208 miners have been killed, By an explosion in a fireworks factory in Paris, 18 persons havo beenkilled.
