Whareama Road Board.

The orilmnr) meeting of this Board was held yesterday. Present—Messrs E.Meredith, R.R.Meredith,and H. Toogood.

A general rate of $d in the £ was struck on the rateable value ot the property within the district, in two equal instalments where the amount oxceeds £5, and in one sum where the amount is less. It was resolved that as the No. 1 Sub-division does not benefit to the same extent by the general rate as tho other Sub-divisions, that tlie Board resolves not to collect the second instalment within that district. It was resolved that the sum of £6210s 2d be paid to the Masterton Eoad Board, and the balance sheet be held over for a fuller meeting. That Mr E. Meredith and the Treasurer be appointed to arrange with the manager of tho Bank for an overdraft,

That tho Chairman be authorised to reply lo Messrs Kitz and Tatham's letter of 2nd hist. That Messrs E. and R. Meredith be a Committee to examine and report upon Messrs Bell, Gully and Izard'? account. That MrE, Meredith he instructed to apply to the County Council for the services of their engineer, That the County Engineer be authorised to expend a sum not exceeding L 25 on the district roads within the Wairarapa 1 and 2 subdivisions.

That Mr Meredith's resignation as Chairman be accepted. Accounts amounting to L 95 7s lid were passed for payment. Noticoa of motion by Mr E. Meredith:—(l) That for the future meetings be held once in two months instead of mouihly. ( Q \ rffci excepting in cases oi urgency expenditure of money upon roads bo, ■ ' with the consent of the Council, placed undor control of the County Engineer. ._(3). That the schedule horowith with respect to roads or portions thereof within the district to which the available funds of each subdivision shall be respectively applied and restrictedbe adopted, This concluded the business. The next meeting was npointed to bo held on 30th August.
