FOOTBALL.
The first round of the championship contests of the Wairarapa Rugby Union commences tomorrow. At Masterton for the senior cup the Masterton and Star teams try conclusions on the lute's ground. On the Masterton Club ground the Te Ore Ore and Star second fifteens will play for the junior cup. At Carterton the Rival and Greytown Club first fifteens do battle lor the senior cup, At Greytown, the Fire Brigade team and the second fifteen of the Greytown Club contest the junior cup. As showing the increasing popularity of the game, upwards of two hundred players will be engaged in the various events throughout ine Wairarapa to-morrow,
'.. In the match next Saturday, (to-morrow), at Carterton, between the Grpytown Club's first fifteen and the Carterton Rivals, the following are the teams; Greytown-O. Board, J. Beard, Lucena, Aims, Kalaugher, Mitchell, (i, Hawk, Ingley, E, Udy, C, Udy, Webster, 11, Tully, A. Udy, Polling and W. Smith. Carterton 1 Rivals—F. Kemble, E. Kemble, Baumber, McCarthy, Snodgrasß, Ngaturi, 0, Raid, J, Moore, T. Moore, Pairbrother, McKenzie, Eagle, Nicholson, Merewood and Tyler, The following second fifteen of the Groytown Fire Brigade flay at Greytown same day:—W. Tully, K. H. Hall, Udy, H. Grigg, W; Brunton, derrick, Ellers, Knowles, Tate, Rutini, Tocker, Tingi, A. Board, Taiaroa,' Kuni and Tommy,
