Wansjaehu Road,—Steven's contract on this lino is being progressed with, ard under the ordinary circumstances should bo completed in a fortnight from date. Upper Opaki Road. -The contractor for the stone pickiug &c, on this road has not yot completed his work, and I estimate that it will require about two weeks before the contract can be passed, Brancepelh Road. - Finding it necessary that two of the smaller bridges ou this lino should be rosheeted with 8 x 'i planking over the original. I took steps to have tho bridges repaired accordingly with new timber in order to make them safe for heavy trafljo. I also found that it was necessary to deepen one of tho byo-washes connected with tho Westmere drains, and I have given instructions for the work to bo proceeded with at once, To Whiti Road.-The Mangaakuta biidgc on this line has been re-sheeted with Bx2 planking and olherwiso repaired, and is now available far heavy traffic.

ilanricevillo West Eoad. The contract for motalling let to Mr Dorset not having been proceeded with I would suggest that the work bo placed in the hands of Gardiner & Co, who have intimated that they will undertake tho work. The Upper Opaki tfoad near the homestead of .Mr B. Campbell having been cut up to a considerable oxtent with timber waggons requires repairing, and I would recommend that the sum of LlO be expended on the line in order to roako it passable' for the winter months. The protective works at the ford on the Jluaraahanga River leading to the homestead of Mr W. forns will be completed today, the willow planting has been so far satisfactorily proceeded with, lam &c„ M, MoKeszik.
