It is reported that Prmce Alexander of Battenberg was inveigled into a bogus marriage by Fraulein Loisinger (formerly cabled Doesingar), Fourteen of the leading paper works aro forming a "Trust" with a capital of two millions. Lord Stratheden has given notice that he will bring forward a motion in the House of Lords on Monday, affirming that the Colonial Conference has produced good results, and added to the Colonial security. It is reported tliat Count Herbert Bismark's intention in visiting England is to endeavor to effeofc an alliance between Germany and England but the statement' is not contod. ,

Wairarapa Ru?by Football Union-
Tlio annual meeting of delegates to the above'was hold at the Marquis of Normanby Hotel, Carterton, on Saturday evening last. Mr E. M. 0. Whatman, occupied the chair.
The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed, and the Secretary's annual report was adopted.
Mr W. C. Buchanan here entered, aud Mr Whatman vacated the chair in his favor.
Mr Buchanan commented upon the report, and congratulated the Wairarapa men upon the Bplendid 'staud they made against the Englishmen, and also said chat, he would be very glad to see the Wairarapa men make a tour this year, if possible, to any parts if they thought fit, and if the Union experienced any difficulty in raising funds, said that he felt sure that the people outside would gladly contribute towards defraying expenses, Speaking for . himself, he said he would be only too pleased to assist all in his power. ,r. Mr Whatman moved and Mr Beard the Unionmake a tour this year if possible.' The matter was held over. The balance-sheet was read aud adopted., .... Proposed by Mr Wilsone, seconded by Mr Brunton, tliat the Grey town Firo Brigade Club bo added to the list of clubs belonging to the Union. -Carried. The election of officers resulted as follows President, 6. Beetham; Patron, W. 0. Buchanan; Vice. Presidents A. R. Bunny, P. W. Seed, and J. P. Bussell, Secretary, Mr Snodgrass. General Committee Messrs Manihora Maaka, • Nix, Wilsone, Humphries, Beard and Whatman,
Match Committee: Messrs Whatman, Snodgrass and Webster. The following nominations of teams were made; Masterton,Carterton, Grey town, and Stars, each Benior and junior teams; Grey town Fire Brigade junior team. It was proposou by A. Chambers and seconded by Akuhata, that the' Maori team play for'thejunior cup, It "was moved as an amendment by H. Wilsone aud seconded by A. D'Arcy, that To Ore Ore be classed as seniors, After some argument it was agreed that the matter be left in the hands of the Management Committee. Upon this the mover and seconder withdrew the amendment, ment.
Mr Buchanan said he would not like this meeting to pass without some notice or mention being mado to tho gallant stand the Maori football team had madein England. He said that such a worthy performance in the annals of football deserved hearty mention. Mr Buchanan then offered to'give the next cup to be competed for by seniors. He was heartily thanked by the meeting for the valuable pre* sentation.
Mr Snodgrass moved that tho Cup be won three times, either in succession or otherwise, not as it present stands, two years in succession or three times at intervals.
Mr R. S. Hirscbberg proposed that three referees be selected by the Union to be appointed one in each town. The lioferee from the nonplaying town to act in matches in which his Olub was not taking part, and vice versa. This wjs agreed to be left over till the next meeting. Mr Snodgrasß proposed that Sports should be held in connection with tbo Union. This was also leftovor for the consideration of the the Management Committee and the meeting adjourned.
