DESTRUCTION OF GRAIN.
.. Three large stacks of wheat, estimated to contain 600 bushels, the property of Mr John Morris, Hometown," were destroyed by fire at 8 o'clock this morning. The stacks became ignited by a spark from the engine, whiob, with tho combine, was in close proximity to the stacks, where Mr V 7. J, Budd was'just about to start threshing. The engine was backed out to a safe spot, a rope was fastened to the the threshing machine, which had become ignited, and it was dragged out by the aid of tile engine. The fire was promptly extinguished on the machine, which is'only damaged Ito the extent of a few pounds. We regret to learn that Mr John Morris had not a penny of insurance- on his wheat, and the loss to him is a serious oiie. From information we have since gathered, Mr Budd had got his engine ready and was about starting, but found he had too great a pressure of steam on. He opened the escape valve and also the furnace ! _door. There was a strong . wind blowing at the time, and it is presumed a strong gust of wind entered 'the furnace and sent an .extra lot of sparks through the chimney and so on to the straw..
