PresentMessrs Payton (Chairman), Galloway andDagg, The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed, the Treasurer reported a credit balance of £BB lis 4d. ■ A letter was read from the United District Boord, asking for an estimate of expenditure for the ensuing year, Mr Galloway moved that a sum of £BSO be applied for. The Chairman pointed out that in the South Comity au estimate of £IOO had been made. He considered that in tho North County £l6O a year would be ample for all cases of poverty, but unfortunately cases of sickness had; been forced on to them and if these were to be provided for Mr Galloway's estimate was none too high., Personally, he. was not prepared ,to serve.. 011 the Society after tho'expiration-of tho current month as he considered . that the local bodies, should face directly the. difficulty of dealing with sick oases,"and he-was of the opinion that the cost of Charitable • Aid in the North County should not be-three times the sum'expended hi the South. Mr ; I)agg ;poirited (out that if in tho South County tho cost of charitable aid was small-there was likely to be'a levy made for the hospital .which would more than compensate for the saving in ;the foi'mer, He' seconded the estimate proposed by-Mr GalloV-- • :' ;j ."'■ 1 ■ The mqtjouj was .put'and carrietl, - fixed asjhe. estimate forthe coining year;,;':.
