Jellicoe, solicitor, Wellington, making application for the payment-of £BOO to John Scott, contractor, of Nelson, as compensation for the loss of bis contract for 'erecting the Blenheim .schoolhouse, in consequence of tbe Board's breach of warrant arid misrepresentation, and stating that unless the amount was paid by the 7th inst. proceedings will be commenced for its recovery. Some time ago the Board accepted a tender for the erection of the buildings, subject to the approval of the Education Department. They submitted the plans, but the Department disapproved them, and decided to call for fresh tenders. The Board treated Mr Jellicoe's letter very coolly, and resolved, on reoeipt of the writ, to plaoetlie matter in , their solicitor's hands. Great dissatisfaction was expressed at the delay of the Department in tho ereotion of the new buildings, and the Board referred in strong terms to the evident disinterestedness of the. Government in the whole' matter. It is now six months since ths school building was burnt down, and through the bungling of the Department its reerection has not yet commenced, and it is not likely to be for some time. " .
