. London,,4th March. Mr Gladstone, who has been suffering from a stroke of paralysis, is recovering. Sir Thomas Gladstone, brother to the ex-Premier, is seriously ill, and his condition is causing anxiety to bis friends. A rumour comes from the German seaport of Kiel to the effect that a conflict has taken place at Samoa. An Amerioan warship is sppposed to have first fired a blank cartridge, tbe German ship Olga replying with ball. Neither, the' Amerioan nor the German Legation in London is able to confirm the rumour. The . Standard, referring to the recent disclosures before the Times* Parnell Commission, advocates the duties, of the Commissioners be terminated, A. letter, was found among Pigott's effects addressed to Mr Labouchere stating that-all the first, batch of letters were genuine, but' that the second batch included several forged.
