NEW OFFICES.
The Maaterton Permanent Investment and Building Society opened their new offices for business on Saturday last, and' tlio members of that flourishing local institution sire to bo congratulated upon the commodious premises they havo had erected for their rapidly increasing business. The ground upon which the building stands being very valuable, and tlio frontage necessarily limited, the most had to be made of the available space, and the arohiteot, Mr 11, J, Haigh, has succeeded in utilising to the best advantage every inoh of available ground; The design is after the modern ..English, so much in vogue just now in. the old country. The building is of brick, two storoys high, containing two rooms on each floor, 18 by 18 feet, in size, Eaoh room is well lit with double millioned windows, and the ventilation is perfect, There is a fire place ii> each office, built in anglowise, so as to. occupy a minimum space, A right 'of way four feet wido 'leads to a doorway piving a separate entrance to the upper floor, which the Society propose to let, Mr Seller, of the firm of Sellar and Ohennels, as manager of the Building Society, occupies the two offices on the ground floor, which have been fitted up with polished counter uud desk conveniently arranged for the conduct of businenu. Saturday being the pay day of the Society, and in addition the half-yearly day, a great many shareholders visited the new building; and were unanimiiiis in the opinions thoy expressed on the new accomodation provided.
