Taratahi-Carterton Road Board.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the abore Board was held on Saturday, Present—Messrs H. R. Bunny (chairman), H. Braithwajte; N, Grace, J. Rayner, W. Parker, E. W, Dorset, James Stovens, E. Morgan, and W. B. Allen)
The minntes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, The Treasurer reported a credit Government Loan account £957 14s 3d, general account, £157. Correspondence from G. Moore, Glenburn, asking for continuation of Bridle Track, East Coast. It was resolved that Mr Breaker's services be obtained for laying off the said track. Resolved that the deviation of the Mangatere river at Daleficld, as applied for by Mr S, M, Hart last Board day be, acceded to; also, that Mr Pearce be informed that the Board has no objection to the exchange of gravel pits, but that he makes the exchange at his responsibility. Eesolved that the surveyor be employed to survey the road running through Mrars Carter and Booth's property; from Mr W.Waite re gravel pit; resolved -that he be informed the Board is prepared to pay the £lO as soon as he gives them the proper titlefrom Wairarapa Korth County Counoil re the united action of urging (ho Government to get a bill passed for the proper legalising of all existing roads; resolved that this Board fully concurs in the proposal, and that the Chairman attach his nam9 to tho memorial; from Calonril Treasurer, re interest on Government loans, notifying thai; the interest is payable at the rate of £5 per cent for the term of 26 years, and payable half yearly, viz., on the Ist day of February and August in each year; from Mr Phillips, asking permission to fall tho timber on Moffat's and Jarvis' line. Mr Stovens moved, and Mr Allen seconded, that he be informed that be can fall all timber on Moffat's line but tho Board will not bind themselves to take it over afterwards,—Carried. Mr Stevens in answer to tbe Chairman stated that he had given permission to Mr Prico to dig the drain at Dilefield as applied for at the last meeting. A deputation from Joseph's line asked that the Board subscribe £lO 10a to the "like sum wkioli lias been subscribed by the settlers, agreed to, and tenders to be called for the works, to close this day week. Mr Gower waited on tho Board in referonfco to a notice ho had received re clearing the gorso from the road, pointing out that he did not think he was liable, Moved by Mr Allen, seconded by Mr Raynes that the notice given in respect to the same be withdrawn. Carried. Mr Meenkin made a complaint against the ranger about.employing his boys in impounding cattle, Mr Hannah asked that a lino of road between his property and Steveus' be felled, The request was acceded to. Accounts amounting to £2fio wero passed for payment, Tho Clerk reported that the outstanding rates amounted to £134. Some fresh works wero ordered to bo done, and tho meeting adjournod.
