Carterton Borough Council.

The ordinary raouthly meeting of the Council was hold on Monday last. Present. —The Mayor,: and Crs'T. Moore, W. Viekerstyff, Jas. Bayliss, J.-W. Deller, and A, McKenzie, The minutes of the, previous ■ ;meeting were read, and confirmed. The Treasurer reported acrodit balance of £B2, Correspondence was read from the Masterton A, and Pi Society complaining that the Carterton Borough Council did not proclaim a public holiday on the day of their show on the, last occasion, The Inspector's report was read,' and it was resolved that the Council take steps to enforce the Borough by-laws in respect to fencing iti the Volunteer holding, .the chargo 'toi be made on the owners.-—Carried, The question of raising the rent for the use of the offices it was resolved should-be deft to the next meeting, The roadman's report 1 was read and approved. : The Mayor, on behalf of Mr Ofioaki asked that he bo allowed to erect a. verandah in-front of his premises at North Carterton, -Granted. The • Mayor also asked that about £lO be expended on Lincoln Boad. Besolved that tenders be called.for -the \gork,. Mr Gorman asked .for.an 'extension of time for his - 'contraot.
