Paeis, January 8. The Panama Canal contractors are accepting shares in the Panama railway as a temporary guarantee.
Washington, January 8, The Senate has, by torty-nine to three, adopted the motion brought forward by Mr G. F, Edmunds, senator for Vermont, declaring .that the Senate disapproves of any European Government having control over the Panama Canal, as it would be injurious to American interests, and requesting the President to express to the European Powers the views entertained by the Senate upon the question.
