Kuraurau Hack Meeting. The annual gathering of the above races took place on New Year's D&y, at Vallances flat. The''attendance was fair, aud the general arrangements, which were carried out under the supervision of Mr Thdmas Carsivell, passed off without a hitch. A serious accident occurred in one of the hack races, caused through the bolting of Mr John t arswell's ho.The latter carried his rider (Mr 11. Vennell) some distance off the course and fell over a steep ravine whioh was fully twenty feet deep, Beyond a severe shaking Mr Vennell o'caped, which appeared somewhat remarkable, seeing the tremendous pace the horse was goingaat. The animal was less fortunate, having broken its back in the fall, which necessitated its being immediately destroyed. The following are the results of the various events.
