Holiday-makers had a fine day in Eketahuna for their outing on Friday last (Prince of Wales' Birthday), but we have paid for it since with strong westerly wind 3, and the heaviest downpour of rain that wehave experienced this year. The creeks and rivers are in high Hood, It has been raining now without ceasing for
forty-eight hours, and there are no signs at present of it leaving off.
I hear that Professor Lensen is about to leave this district, as the Skating Eiiik will not pay. lam sorry ho is leaving, for ho is not at nil a bad sort, I wish him better luck wherever he goes than ho has had Here, So, Good-bye, Jack! 1 wish to ask you a question, Mr Editor! This is the trouble:—Borne tiuio ago the Cricket Club here got the turf of their ground turned over, and several kinds of seed'sown; but ■the seed will not grow. .This is the method they adopted with the ground: Tlio turf being new, it was turned up 18in, raked level, rolled, till you could not make a mark on the soil with your foot; the seed was then sown, and it was again rolled, Can you or any of your readers state if the above is tho correct way to make, a cricket pitch ? If it.is not will someone iufortn the Club how,to do it ?
