The rush to tho Waikakaho sfill continues, but for wlut reason it is difficult to understand. There is nothing whatever to warrant the rush. Thore are nearly 700 men on the field, but only the prospectors have touched bottom. The Maoris are downthirty feet.and only gotthe color. Large numbers of diggers aro arriving eveiy day, partly en route to Makakipawa [Mahakipawa] and partly to Waikakaho. Persons should be warned not to [be] carried away by sensational reports and should on no account leave situations to go to the diggings. The finds and accounts of the field hijye been greatly exaggerated. The {pi is already well manned, The quartz specimeus arocertaiuly very promising, but the development of the reefs is a matter of labor and capital.
