Tho regular fortnightly meoting of tho Council was held ou Tuesday night. Present: Tho Mayor and Crs Macara, Heron, Capper, Carman, Cullen, Perry, Muir, Hessey, and T. Chamberlain.

Spackniau and the Council, as.to.the boundary of property on the Waipoua River, Bentley's estate. Mr S. H. Wiokorson,, Secretary of the Wairarapa Football Uu ; on, wrote asking His Worship the Mayor to proclaim a half-holiday on the day. the football matoh was played with the English against the Wairarapa team—Consented to. Footpath. Mr S. Bartlott applied to be allowed to rornovo earth from Dixon streetin front of Mr W. Perry's property, and promising to re-form the footpath to the' satisfaction of tho Overseer.—Defused with regret. .

Tho Mayor said in the face of the riso in tho price of coal it would be bettor to hold ovor tho. question of reducing tho price of gas. The report Was adopted. The Clerk reported the meeting of the Works Committeo had lapsed for want of a quorum. The Finance Committee's.report was read.

Accouuts amounting to £SO Cs lid for wages and Williams and Barker £2 lis 9d for repairs to Fire Brigade Station worei passed for payinen', and the report was adopted. AN OLD ACCOUNT. The Overseer reported on ous repairs done by the regular staff, and certain works that wanted doing, also upon crossings, that required to be put in, Or Gapper. moved that the report be adopted, and the Town Clerk give notioe to the different parties to put in their approaches/, Tho motion' ; was seconded by.
