' iNVBBdABGiiiii Alexander Darling's fellmongery, near town, was burned down last night about B p.m. The chimney of Mr Darling's residence, close to the works, caught five but, the flames were extinguished arid 'oveiytliing made apparently safo. A spark from the chimney must, however, have lodged in, .of the shed nearest the ■house, for |t|abouJ~ a fire/broke ofif at that particular spot'and spread rapidly. The eight sheds of which the works were composed were quickly destroyed. : The; residence and stable were saved, and a few bales of wool were got out of the burning building. Most qfithe bones of which there were about £SO worth in stock, were left untoucbed but the machinery with which the works were fitted, including a new bone mill, ail engine and largo boiler, and,two toilowdigestors were more or less'.injured; 'lilr 'Darling' estimates that the stock and material on hand was'worth at least £IOOO.
