Masterton Town Lands.

The regular monthly meeting of the Trustees was held last night (Friday), Present. —Messrs Lowes (Chairman), McEwon, E. Chamberlain, W. Perry, and A, W, Eenall. Tlia minutos of the last general and special meetings were confirmed. An apology from Mr R. Haro for Ins unavoidable absence was received and agcepted. The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £45 12s

SCHOOL AID. jA letter was read from the Chairman of the Femridgo School Committee asking for a grant of £2O, The purposes to which the grant was to bo devoted were for library, swings, and repairs. Mr E. Chamberlain moved, and Mr McEwen seconded, that tho sum of L2O ho granted, payable in two equal instalments.—Carried.

TOWN IMPROVEMENT. The Town Clerlt wrote asking if the Town Lands Trustees would bo willing to pay for Itcrbing Town Acre 73 in Ciiapel-stl'eet. It ps resolved that tl|p Trustoes nay tliojr share of tho cost of kerbing : the footpath as requested.

Mr Feist, who was the duly constituted chairman of the first'meeting, was also the.same at the adjourned meeting, and the Trustees wero. liable for the expenses }n connection with both meetings. - ■; Mr Perry moved, • and Mr McEwen seconded that the first two items be passed for payment. Mr Renall moved, and Mr Lowes seconded, that the whole of the account be paid. The amendment was lost, and the 1 motion put aud carried. PKHItYS BI.OCK. . Two applications were received 'for leasing. the 4| acre section in the Dixon, Estate, belonging ; to, the Trustees. - The amounts being equal, the Secretary was instructed to write and ask tho applicants to renew their offers, and,the. Cullen wrote asking the Trustees to allow.him to thiow up his lease of part of>town acre 85. ■ ■■ ■ In answer to a question the Clerk said the rent of the section was not fully paid up. ' It; was resolved'on the'motion of MrMcEwen that Mr Cullen be informed that his application will be considered as soon as the trustees are satisfied that the areavs of. rent are paid up. -

■■ REPORT ON LEASES. ...The -Secretary read a statement of the whole position of the Trust, showing the date when leases expire, what improvements have been made, and where , conditions have not been complied with. The Clerk was instructed to give notice to Mr Macarn, the lessee of town acre ii, to prevent the damage to the Trust property which was being caused by the removal of gravel therefrom. NOTICE OF MOTION. Mr Perry gave notice of motion that ho would move at next meeting: "That iu compliance with the 4th section of" The Public Bodies Leaseholds Act 1887," it is desirable that this meeting request His Excellency the Governor to bring the said Act into force for the guidance of the Masterton Town Lands Trustees as a leasing authority in leasing the lands of the Trust."
