Duneuis, July 81, Tho report of tlio directors of tho Moniington Tram Company states that there lias been a falling off in the revenue. The balance to profit and loss is £B-15, of which £2OO is to be writton off tor depreciation, and £SOO carried forward, no dividend being declared. Tho loan account has been reduced by a call etc., from £2,700, Auckland, July 1)1. A man named John Gough, employed at the Parotorau tunnel on the main trunk railway line, was killed on Saturday morning by a fall of earth, the timber in tho tunnel having given way. At the inquest a verdict of accidental death was re-! turned, It is stated that since the accident thirty men have left the works alleging that thoy are not safe.

A sti'iko has occurred amongst the local shipwrights, in consequence of two men who were employed on the Coulnakyle at the dook boing dismissed by the contractor, J. Bidgelow. It is also asserted that, Bidgelow lias taken on men with some means in the place of others who had been out of work for months. At a meeting of tho shipwrights, hold to-day to consider the matter it was unanimously resolved that no men should work at the dook for Bidgelow.
