Whareama Road Board.

A meeting of the Board was held on Saturday, Present—Messrs E.Mere' dith (chairman). H, E. Elder, T, Carswell, E. E, Meredith, and J, Morrison.

The minutes of the previous moating were read, and Mr Elder took exception to them. After considerable discussion the minutes as road were confirmed, a record being taken of Mr Elder's objection, A lettter was read from Mr Bremner in reference to repairs to Ulairlogie road. From the Treasurer, re in. tercst on loans under Eoads and Bridges Act, From Mr Sperry re the inspection of rate book in connection with the valuation of property. The following resolutions were passed:- That the clerk be instructed to intimate to the special ratepayers that unless the amounts due be paid forthwith legal steps will be taken with out furthernotice to recover the amounts as tbo money lias already been remitted to tho Government, That Mr Morrison bo 'authorised, to employ one man for a month to rake up the metal oil the Blairlogie road, and dean out the water tables. That the Chairman and Mr Oarswell be appointed to sign tho general and special rate books. That the Clerk be instructed to write and inform Mr Nita in reply to his letter of 24th May that, as far as the Board are able to ascertain, a road has been laid off to his property. Tljat accounts,, to the amq'nijt of £22 5s be passed fqr payment, That the Clerk be instructed to inform Mr Eobert Donald that there is no record of the Board having ordered the timber referred to hj his aooount of 91st March. That Messrs .Heraopk a,ud Taplin bo inforM that there was'uo authority given by the Board for the carriage account jrf 14th inst rendered by them, ■ That the Clerk be instructed to take the necessary steps for striking the special rate on the £m loan under the Loans to Local Bodies Act, and that the rate be struck at the next ordinary meeting of the Board.
