A meeting of the Road Hoard was held on July Brd, Present:—Messrs Kebbcl (Chairman, Warren, J. Smith, Cross, Dunn and Benton. Tlio minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Messrs Cross anilßenton reported on Ihanuia biidgo erected by J. Brannigan, and advised that £9 bo passed for payment, Infrd correspondence was read as fola. W v G. JJcnrd with particulars Messrs 801 l Gully anil Izards account, Survey office re Tawataia .Jioad. County Clerk requesting miinss .jfpinittod to bo placed on electoral roll. County' Council ro wire rope over, after erecting cradle over Tiraumea. Treasury advising £2OO being paid into Bank of New Zealand, part of Tawataia road loan (£835). J, Payton enclosing printing account, C. A. Pownall stating that ho had referred the Board's offer to Mr Phillips, J, Bowstead ro felling bush on road line on section 209, Blook XII Mangaone. Gardiner &' Co re contract No B,f awataia road, requesting the Board to allow them £8 for extra bridge omitted in quoting for same. C. Madsen & Co re contract No (i, requesting an additional £2O, as tho pegs arc till out and the road has been very much cut up since taking contract, and if Board will not grant this request, return deposit. M. Caselbcrg & Co re stationery ordered, 11. Ellison ro his contraction Ilmrami valloy road, A. D. Hewtou re sumo matter. 11. Ellison, requesting Board to pay C. E, O. Smith, his deposit £2 when the ' work is completed. C. E. O, Smith Offering to take Ellison's contract, ' • Bank of New Zealand acknowledging cheques £lO 17s lid and £l. D. Jameson ro his contract No ] Tawattiiuroad. W. and G, Shirley requesting their names to bo placed on roll instead of W. Benton, J. K, .Yorl! ro rates in area and deposit on ''amended contract. Ekctalunia lioad Board stating that they have no funds meantime for works on Tawataia road, i l ', Conway requesting share of Board's road work, It was resolved that notice bo published in the Daily notifying that a general rate of 4d in tho £ will bo levied next meeting. Mr Dunn reported that E, Elliston refused to remove rubbish off the road in his contract. That Mr Elliston be informed that tho work will have to bo done to the «ltisfactioii of tho Overseer, and that 10 Board roservo the right to cancel any contract. Mr Dunn asked lcavo to make some alterations in Mr I. Jamiorspn's contract, The request ; ;/was granted, Mr Saunders applied for wiro rope, to bo used at the crossof tho Tiraumea opposite his v houso. Granted; also not more than •, £8 for materials and labor in erecting name, That Mr Beard bo informed - the Board object to various itoms in the account rendered. That Mr Bowstead bo written to requesting him .to stato prico for falling bush, and to give a plan showing Hid position of the part of road ho purposes felling. That tho slip of paper referred to does not bear out Gardner and Co.'s statement. That Mr Madsen's request bo not acceded to. That Shirley's request be granted, and roll altered accordingly, That G. Knight's application bo granted. That the Board has no work in tho meautime, but will consider ¥. Conway's request any work is done. Payments to MflPric amount of £BO 3s 6d were passed per payment sheet. Messrs Warren and Dunn were appointed to sign cheques. The next meeting will be ■t ' held on Tuesday, 7th August.
