D. lulton, Gulin, youngest son of the late James Winchester, of Elgin, Scotland, to Jemima, second daughter of Frederick Davidson, of Hopenian, Scotland.
A case of breach of promise, in which £SOO was claimed, was heard at tho Dunedin Supremo Court, on Thursday, Sarah Forguson, of JNaseby, spinster, suing John Dawson, of tho same place, baker and grocer, Tho parties hi been engaged for about four years. Dawson thou began to pay attention to a Miss Donaldson, with whom ho stated ho had be*come entangled ; and for tho plaintiff it was contended he inducwi her to write and release linn from his engagement to her, so ue to bo ablo to show Miss Donaldsou, and enablo him to free himself from her and marry Miss Ferguson. For tho defence it was contended that the engagement was brokon off voluntarily by the plaintiff. At tho conclusion of the ovidoncc, tho jury said they considered the plaintiff had not proved hor case, bat at tho request ol tho Judgo thoy listened to Sir-it.
