Thk final game between the Masterton and Opaki members of the Chess Club was played last night, the Rev. W. E. Paige (Masterton) defeating Captain Holmwood. The game was a Petrol! defence, Masterton thus won the match, having scored 9 to their opponents 7. Tlio following are the scores of the players : MASTERTON—
An impromptu match between married and qingje iqeuiliera present was also played last night, the former winning three games, drawing one and losing one. A mutch between Masterton and Te Ore Ore combined is now on the tapis,
