MASONIC CEREMONY.
Installation of Sir Harry Atkin-
son as R.W.D.Gr.M.
The ceremony of installing the Sight Worshipful District Grand Master, Bro. Sir Harry Atkinson, took place in the old Provincial Council Chamber, Custom House Quay, Wellington, yesterday. About 350 Brethren were present, including representatives from all the District and Provincial Grand Lodges of the Colony. All the lodges under the District Grand Lodge of Wellington, E.C., were represented and numerous brethren were alsojuesent from other English, Irish lodges in the Ncrtli mid South Islands. ifi' At 6.80 p.m. the New Zealand Pacific Lodge, being the oldest Lodge in the Colony, opened the proceedings, and at 7 p.m. the District Grand Master, Bro. Toxward, accompanied by all his officers, entered the room, and the District Grand Lodge was opened in the usual way. All the representatives from visiting District and Provincial Grand Lodges were then received in a manner in keeping with their high Masonic rank, and the ceremony of installation was proceeded with in a most impressive manner. Tliemusical arrangements were entrusted to Bro. G. Eobertson, D.G. Organist, who was assisted by an efficient orchestra' of 15 performers, which contributed greatly to the suc« cessful carrying out of the ceremony. Appropriate addresses were given byßro H. Thomson, D.G.M, Canterbury, and Bro. Rev. W. E. Paige, D.GAfep,plain, and hearty congratulations given to the newly-installed District Grand Master,, by the representatives of visiting District and Provincial Grand Lodges, and by various other brethren, Bro. Sir Harry Albert a masterly speech, thanked He brethren for their kind expressions, end for having nominated him to tl^
important office of District Grand Master; and also to those who performed the coremony of installation. Ho also promised, as soon as time t emitted, to look into the subject of euevolcuco, which is one of the great aims of the craft; and also to visit every lodge in the district, so as to strengthen the bonds of fellowship, After the ceremony, a banquot took place in the Masonic Hall, Boulcott Street, which was largely attended, and the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honored.—Abridged from N.Z.
