Fatal Accident to Mr T. H. Murray.
The Post describes as follows the death of Mr T. Murray, late of Te Ore Ore' An accident which liatl a fatal termination, occurred on the Ohiro road a,bout 10 o'clock last evening, the victim being Mr Thomas Hope Murray, lessee of Goathurst Farm, Ohiro. Mr Murray, after spending some little time at the shepherd's' hut on the farm, walked out of the building with the intention of going to his own house, distant about 200 or 800 yards. He had not gone away more than a few moments when the shepherd heard a cry, and on going outside to find out the cause, he heard someone groaning on the road. He at once rushed over to the spot whence the sound proceeded, and fouud Mr Murray lying at the bottom of the bank in front of the hut. The shepherd gave the alarm, and assistance being procured, Mr Murray was carried to the farmhouse of MrPitchett and a messenger despatched for medical aid. Br Tripe was found at home and lost no time in going to Mr Fitchett's place, where he found 31r Murray lying insensible with his face very much bruised. The doctor removed some cloths which had been placed on Mr Murray's face in order to staunch the flow of blood, and substituted some lint, after which he ordered the patient's removal to the Hospital. The injured man was placed in a spring trap and driven to the Hospital. He never regained consciousness, aud breathed his last about llo'cloclt this morning. The deceased evidently walked over the bank which was fully 15ft high, and fell on his face with a considerable force. Mr Murray, who was about 47 years of age, was married. His wife is away on a visit to the country, but lias been telegraphed for, and is expected to reach town this evening. The deceased was as well known in the Wairarapa as in Wellington. He was at one time owner of a station at Te Ore Ore, Masterton, and subsequently he was a partner in a fellmongery near there. He was a thorough judge of stock and frequently acted as a judge at the Carterton Agricultural Show. A brother is managing Messrs Johnston & Co.'s station at Matailcuna, Castlepoint.
