The Famous Chief Titokowaru . Dying' Manaia, Monday. Titokowaru, famed as a chief in the ■wars against settlers years ago, is now dying of heart disease. He is not expected to last mora than a few days.
Fatal Fire at Waipawa. Two Persons Burnt to Death. Napikr, Monday. A dwelling house and shop occupied by Sheehan, at Waipawa. was totally destroyed last night. The inmates were asleep, but being aroused, Sheehan, his wife, an infant, .and the servant escaped through the window, but wero badly cut and bruised. Two lodgers in the house, who it was thought M escaped, were burnt to death, pir charred remains being discovered in the ruins. The buildings, including stable aud bakehouse, were totally destroyed. They were insured in the South British for £SOO.
/ Fatal Accident, 'W&'k for the UnemployedDunemn, Monday. Albert Justin, aged eight, fell off a two hundred feet cliff at the port yesterday, and has siuce died from the injuries. The Premier wires Mr Fish that a number of the unemployed are to be put on road works at the Heads.
