Upper Taueru Road Board.

The monthly meeting was held at Bideford on April 2nd. Present—Messrs 0. E. Hood, (Chairman), MacKae, Rutherford. In reply to a letter from Mr F. 6. Moore, enclosing a copy ot the resolution re the maintenance of main road it was resolved that this Board does not see its way clear to take over the maintenance of main road. Letters were received from the Property Tax Department announcing the payment of £l6 16s 3d, advance of 75 per cent on account of subsidy due to the Board; from the Bank of Australasia acknowledging receipt of cheques and stating that £BOO loan had been placed to the Board's credit; also requesting a letter signed by the Chairman specifying the names of members authorised to sign cheques, and also their signatures at foot of same; from Provincial District Auditor applying for the accounts of the Board, for the purpose "-of examination and audit; from the County Engineer re the Glendonald-Wairere line and stating that he had advertised tenders to close at the Board's office on April 9th inst; also that in the matter of Macßae's contract he awaited further instructions. The Chairman's action in metalling the few chains through the bush on the Glendonald-Wairere line was confirmed Resolved that the matter of Macßae's contract be left over till next meeting, That a special meeting of the Board be held on April 9th, to consider and deal with tenders for work on Glendon-ald-Wairere line. That the Clerk be instructed to purchase a letter-press. A special meeting was held on April 9th. Present:—The Chairman, Messrs MacHae, Rutherford and Miller. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. Tenders were opened for contract No, 4, on the GlendonaldWairere line: P, Carr, £96 7s 6d; Henry Stephens, £77; Donald McKenzie £75; Gardiner and Co., £99155, It was resolved that the tender of Donald McKenuie be accepted, subject to the elimination of tho formation between tho original contract No 2 and 3; and that a proportional amount be deducted from the tender. Mr McGovern applied for a road to his property. Resolved that the matter be left to Mr Maoßae, and that he report on the practicability at next meeting. Re McKay's contract, it was resolved that it be left to the engineer to finish, It was decided that the Board's meetings be held on the first Saturday of every month instead ot the first Monday.
