CORRESPONDENCE.

The Horticultural Society, To the Editor. Siit.—l quite agree with the remark made by the President of the Mastertoil Horticultural and Industrial Society, and referred to in your leader of yesterday, that the Society needs more outside support, and I also think with you that our Society's Shows might be mijide ttie largest exhibition of the kind m any' 'country town "in New Zealand. But while, however, ap Interested and unprincipled commjttee ifl.an is allowed, unknown to flip rest of the Committee, to put a first prize ticket gn an exhibit that had been previously disqualified by the Judges, I am afraid exhibitors and supporters will become beautifully less every year. This individual has already robbed the Society of several of its supporters, and it would seem as if the Society endorsed his action on this occasion, as I see he is again elected on the Committee. As an exhibitor, I have the best interests of the Society at

heart, but if this is the way the Shows are to be conducted in future, and the Judges' awards tampered with by interested Committeemen, I shall withdraw my support. Apologising for trespassing on your valuable space, I am, etc., Masterton, Exhibitor. March 17, 1888. [We are under the impression that the individual referred to has not yet been called upon for his answer to the charge, and that comment now is premature. Ed. W. D.]
