Ths Panami Routs. Panama, February 27. The Nicaragua Canal Bill has'been agreed to by the Senate. The Bill provides for the construction of a ship canal across the Isthmus of Nicaragua from the Bay of Guatemala,, on the Atlantic side," to the Port of Realejo, on the Pacific side. The length of the proposed canal is 278 .miles.
THE MBBIT QUESTION, Pais,: February 27. M. Pasteur's latest experiments have proved completely successful. Under the chicken cholera rabbits lived one day only, fowls two. days, whilst sheep and lambs were not in any way effected. M. Pasteur is now convinced of the superiority of his scheme for the extermination of the rabbits, and is determined to spare no trouble or expense to have it properly submitted to the authorities of New South Wales, with a view of securing the reward of £25,000 offered by the Government of that colony. Three delegates from M. Pasteur, who fully understand his scheme, will leave for Australia by the s. s. Ouzco. Adelaide, February 29. ■ A disease similar to that discovered by Drs Butcher and Ellis, has been found amongst rabbits on a run 40 miles west of the Darling district. The rabbits are dying in thousands. It is expected that the country will be cleared of them in dry weather. It is proposed to distribute the infected rabbits among those districts troubled with the pest, but the Government is adverse to this step until the Scientific Commision have considered the matter,
Dunedin, February 23. The Chamber of Commerce passed the following resolution: That Government be requested to cause experiments to be made with various rabbit diseases on some of the islands of the New Zealand coasts, so that by next Spring the most effectual remed) may be ascertained; also whether it is safe and desirable to introduce disease in any form,

St. Petersburg, February 27, There has been a renewal of Russian military transport operations, interrupted by heavy falls of snow, and Eussiau troops are now massing in large numbers at Piuazong. The Heruld reports that a regular duel was recently fought at Caulfa'eld between a civil servant and a local barrister. The quarrel, it is stated, arose out of a ballroom dispute, The belligerents used pistols and fired at each other at twelve paces, the result of the shots being that the barrister was wounded in the arm. Silver and Copper lining. Sydney, February 28. A silver company has been floated in the Tuna district, with a capital of L100,0()0, The capital was subscribed seven times over before the prospectus was issued.
The Great Cobar Copper Company have sold the output of their mine for three years to a French syndicate for L6O per ton, delivered at Sydney, the product being restricted to 2500 tons per annum, with the option of extending, the term for a further period of three years. The average price obtained in Syduey by the company during the last twelve years has been slightly over L 52. Under their new engagement, the company expect to clear a profit of Ll2 per ton.
