Castlepoint Road Board.
#JV meeting of the Board was held at Vmi 0" Saturday hist. All the membf.rs were present. The miuulei of the pioi'ious meeting were read and continued. The ticasurer reported a balance in Bank of £3lO 2s 8d and balance fur future expenditure £215. The following correspondence waa read, from Mr Duffy desiring to be informed if tha Board would dispose of the cradle and wire rope at the bridge near Mr Riddles. From County Clerk with copy of resolution re Board undertaking maintenance of main roads. Same suggesting that the disputed accounts should be referred to tho clerks of the County Board and Borough. From County engineer commenting very unfavorably on tho formation work recently dgK on Elder's hill, From Mr Miller rSfuing to subscribe towards the metalling on the road near the Hotel at Tinui. From the Chief Surveyor declining any responsibility in connection with tho survey of the road to sec, BCS. From Mr Eawson re plan of Adams Peak road. From County Engineer re plans of Uriti road. From Education Commissioners ie payments of rates, Tho report of the
clerk of works was ivad and considered. The chairman stated t'.iat ho had in company with the Messrs Liumdon examined the proposed road to Rewe Rewe, and that there was no difficulty in getting a road. If Mr Cameron would pay the amount of compensation claimed the Board would have the road laid off. Resolved that the cradlo mil wire rope at the bridge near Mr Riddles bo offered to Mr Dully for £2. That this Board is not prepared to tako over tho County roads in this district at such a short notice and without further information. That the suggestion of the Council to refer the disputed accounts to the Clerks of tho two bodiesand tlio'JWn Clerk of Masterton be agreed to. That half tho cost of metalling near Millers bo charged to N2 subdivision and the other half to the general fund account. That the Local Bocfe Loans Act be adopted by the Board, That a sufficient sum be granted to put in repair the cutting and culverts on the Bluukhill briille track. Accounts amount ina to £l2 Is 3d wore passed for payment and tho Board adjourned for two months
