WHAREAMA ROAD BOARD.
The Whareama Road Board met on Friday, 17th inst.. at 11 a.m. Present Messrs R. R. Meredith (chairman), Elder, J. Morrison, and 6. Moore. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read from the Treasury, re irregularity in petition for £2OO. From same, relative to certain details necessary in the matter of the loan of £BOO. A petition signed by all the special ratepayers for a loan of £2OO was laid before the Board. It was resolved that the petition for a loan of £2OO bearing the consent of all the ratepayers interested be adopted; also, that at a meeting to be held on May, the 16th March, a special order will be made, striking a special rate to cover interest and sinking fund on a loan of £BOO. It was decided that the Clerk should mite to those ratepayers who are in default, and that if rates aro not- paid within 14 days proceedings will be forthwith taken.' It was resolved that Mr Moore be authorised to expend £2O in anticipation of the loan of £2OO, in formiug and placing culverts upon the Mangapui road laid off by Mr Rawson and adopted by the Board, according to the specifications, and to order 2000 ft of timber for the contract. Carried. That the resolution appointing Messrs E. and R. Meredith to sign contracts on behalf of.tlie Board be rescinded, also, that the members of the Board or any two of them be authorised to sign contracts on behalf of the Board, and that Mr Bremner be authorised' to supervise contracts No 1 and 2, Blaiilogietoad, or app^
someono in liis place. It was then resolved that Mr Moore be authorised to tako the plans and specifications now in Mr Gaiswoll's lunula, of the Mangamu Road for his use and guithat the Clerk be instructed to 'intimate to Messrs E. and E, R, Meredith that it is the intention of the Board to enter on the Mangapui deviation road ns laid off by Mr Bawson for the purpose of formation. This was carried on the motion of Messrs Elder, Morrison and Moore, only Mr Meredith voting against it. The meeting then adjourned.
