SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
Louis Simon Nearly Killed,
At about two o'clock this morning, Mr Bragging, the nightwatcliman, reported to the police that a man was lying on the road between the Waipoua and Euamnhunga .bridges, and that he was insensible and much injured, seemingly by a fall from his horse. Sergeant Price preceded to the spot, taking with him Dr Milne, and afterwards the injured man, who was found to be Louis Simon, who is in the employ of Mr 6. Drummondof Otahuao, was removed to the hospital, where ho now lies. Prom what can be gathered it seems that" Louis," as lie is generally known, Lad been to Masterton and was reiurhiiiL' home ou horseback when he must have been thrown from his horse. When found he was in a fearful state and wus bleeding from the nose and eji'3, and apparently had been lying at the place for some hours The latest inquiry at the hospital informs us that the unfortunate man is still unconscious, but he is only bleeding slightly now. He is a single man of about 40 years of age, is not known to have any relatives here, and was very popular with all who knew him, Much regret is felt at the occurrence. Dr Hosking informs us this morning that the injury was a fracturo of the skull
