The condition of Martin O'Brien,
Upon inquiry at the Masterton Hosr ■ pital this morning we learn that although Martin O'Brien passed , rather a bad night, to-day shows symp- , toms of improvement. He is, however still unconscious, Moropartic- - ulars are also to hand regarding the accident itself. It seems that no one
was present when the mishap occurred
and O'Brien was afterwards found v lying unconscious with the over- , turned truck besido him. It 1 ia fought that after O'Brien j had 'run a truck of material I out to tho tip end of the embank- ; rnant, he started back and when near v the dead end of the cutting whore he loader, ho apparently, after running alongside the truck aud having released the horse by means of the tiplioe, made a jump up so as to ride on the wagon for the remaining few yards, which was his usual custom. He, however, must have slipped and fallen in this jump and the truck have struck him, for afterwards ho was found lying just behind it, and a few hairs were on the front portion just above where it would have hit him. Great sorrow was felt by Mr Danaher and the man's mates at the occurrence, for O'Brien was much respected by them,
