EKETAHUNA ROAD BOARD.
An ordinary meeting of the Board was held in the Schoolhouse, Eketahuna, on the 4th inat. Present—Messrs T. Bayliss [chairman], Anderson, Beokmini, Nilson and Davie, The minutes of the previous meeting worn read and confirmed. Correspondence was read from the County Council, informing the Board that an authorised surveyor had been instructed to lay off a metal pit on the Alfredton Road, to bo taken under the Public Works Act ; from the Commissioner of Crown lands, accepting the explanation of re the expenditure of accrued thirjjfcicl statinp; the Land Board would consider the proposal of the Parkville Special Settlement Association when one-tenth of tbe puce of the rural land had been paid, but they must havo a definite scheme of Works to lay before the Board \ from Property Tax Commit
I'sioner, who bail forwarded voucher to Hko Treasury for payment of 76 per conk o{ subsidy; from Chief Surveyor, requesting that specifications for road formation near Hefty's whare might and returned; from Mr . JfjPbrling, asking that the culverts on Lis road might be attended to; from Colonial Treasurer, advising that a poll would bo necessary in the case of the Mantjaone Valloy loan. It was resolved that the Treasury Department bo written to requesting the payment of accrued thirds to the Board. That R deposit of 5 per cent on the amount of contract be require^,vith tenders foi {works under the Beard. In the case of contracts under £2O the deposit to •|bc paid as soon as the Inspector reports that sufficient work has been " 'done to ensure the completion of the . contract. Tenders received for 7 chains of metalling on the Hawera Road:— J. McMillan, £l3 18s 5d (accepted), A. Anderson £l9 ss. Mr Davie was appointed to superintend the work. Messrs McDonald and Water,ion waited on the Board with plans for a bridge ■Aji the Makakahi .River, It was (ieeSled to ask the County Council to allow their engineer to examine the plans and give an opinion of the Bimie. Mr M. Nilson was appointed to act with Mr Beckman in inspecting tho . nojjjffice, Mr Davie reported the coß|netionoftheside cutting and the bridge on the fllangaone Valley road and the surface repairs on the Hawera Road. The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £95 2.} 6d, Accounts amounting to 116 19s 3d were passed for payment, Messrs Bayliss and Anderson were appointed to sign cheques. At the request of the ratepayers meeting the clerk, was instructed to write to the absentee ratepayers ot tho Mongaone Valley Road District, informing them of the date on which a poll will be taken on the proposal to raise a loan. The meeting then adj owned.
