ALFREDTON ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the Board was held on Tuesday, the J Oth inst. PresentMessrs Kebbell (chairman), Napier, Marsh, Smith, and Dunn. The following inwards correspondence was read;-From W.G. Beard,.with an opinion on the subject of road line in dispute with Mr Phillips. From Mr Phillips, as also Henry Casriell on the same subjA It was resolved to place the matter in the hands of the Board's solicitors, with a view to take proceedings'against Mr Phillips for the Board's property, and that in the meantime the Board will make the road passable for traffic. From Mr J. A. Smith, who also waited on the Board, with a request that a right of road be found him to his section on the Alfredton Township Village Settlement.' The Chairman and Up Marsh were appointed to report on the matter at the next meeting. From Receiver of Land Revenue and Commissioner of Crown Lands in reference to statement of accrued thirds. From Eketahuna Road Board, with remittance for £5 18b, being Boards share of Survey expenses on the Tawataia road line. From C. Ct. Good, re unused road lines. The matter referred to was allowed to stand over at present. From Henry Hall and the Registrar to the Supreme Court in reMttce to the proceedings against the Scfiool Commissioners, the Registrar stating that the latter have obtained an injunction restricting, in the meantime, the sale of the reserves, and promising full particulars through hi- ' jgitor. No active steps taken pencu|J Hie promised information. From' Treasury, re date of special order adopting Bodies Loans Act, 1883," also in reference to rates on Crown and Native Lands, stating that payment will be discontinued after the current year. From Castlepoint Road Board agreeing to pay to this Board £lO from the v ates received from Mr Morrison's property. From the County Council about the same matter and promising a further reply after the Finance Committee _ have reported. From Messrs Smith k\ Hogg requesting a share of the Board's! advertising, and offering to reduce the charge. Rejgived that in each case of calling for Widers, the matter be decided at the time, as to advertising in one or more papers The question of rates in arrear for more than one year was discussed, when it was regolvti W all nob ratepayers be sued
for recovory unless all rates now due bo paid on or before tho 7th February next. • The Chairman was authorised to forward to the Treasury an application for a loan of £BOO under the Government Loans to Local Bodies Act 1886, for expenditure on the lhiwaua Valley Road. Eesolved that tenders be called for fifty chains, moro or less, metalling on the Alfredton District Eoad, tenders to close on the 81st hist. It was resolved to inform the Council that the Board is willing to expend a sum of 120 in imprvoing the Eketahuna-Tinui road, providing the Council expend a sum of 140. Accounts amounting to £4B 16s Gd werepassed for payment. The next meeting was fixed for the second Tuesday in February.
