The tenth competition for Glass A. trophy was fired on Saturday last, and resulted in Vol G. Bentley winning i] for the first time. The sh'oqtinafar below the average acoonut o( the men having' to oboose' from a bag qf ammunition which had been picked over times out of number. The residue therefore consisted of condemned Kynock cartridges. The ranges were 200,800, and 500 yds, The are the scores;— Vol G. Letters were, read' from Messrs •Lance, Fraser, Anderson, and Lawry, judges at the late show, returning amount of expenses allowed them. .It was resolved that the secretary write and thank them for their liberality.. Mr Olia's Tipple then waited; on the Committee .in connection with the Frozen Meat trade, and produced a letter from the head of the Stock Department requesting Sheep; Inspecters to assist him with information. He stated that his object was to get some organisation by means of .whioh the industry would .be protected, and that New Zealand mutton should be sold in the English-market, for what it really was worth. A direct channel of trade should be secured with the consumers. This direct trade the accredited: salesman must form in directions which will return: to the growers a fair' approximation to'the prices actually paid by the' Home consumers, and secure,,the meat:being sold as New Zealand. :;Tlie remedy was plain, growers 'should under some co-operation accredit their own sales-man-to the Home consignee whose orders the' consignee should execute in preference to sending meat into present channels, His suggestions were the outcome of experience, and he was willing to offer his services, the consideration being that he should j receive a proportion of the increased price he secured the producer* After considerable discussion it was resolved that as the meeting was a smdll one the matter be postponed to a meeting to be held immediately after the ram fair, and that Mr Tipple be thanked for his attendance. The Secretary reported that there was sufficient money to pay the prizes, but it was very difficult to gee subscriptions in, and that the medals would be ready for distribution in a short time.
