London, January 6. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency have declared a dividend of 10 per cent., and a bonus oi 5 per cent., and have carried forward £15,000 to the reserve fund.
The Financial News states that the London and Westminster Bank has seoured the bulk of the Victorian loan at a fraction under £lO4, and that a group of speculators, having obtained a portion at a fraction over £lO4, are making a large profit out of the public. SKELETON POUND AT EKETA HUNA. .
Eketahuna, January 7. The police have found the skeleton pf a hurnim body about nine miles from here, Ihpre Vnq sjgn of clpt|)iqg aboqt the remains, which are supposed to bo those of Mr vVebber, formerly Chief Surveyor Hawkes Bay, and who mysteriously disappeared , about eighteen months ago.
The skeleton was discovered at a point on the Alfredton road known as the Peep o' Day, about nine miles' from Eketahuna, and the bones were very much scattered, covering two or three yards of space. There was no clothing, and the. skeleton ifeelf aud'a.
