SPORTING.
The stakes won at the MastertonOpaki Jockey Club's recent summer meeting wore paid at the Club Hotel, Masterton, last evening. The following are the names of the recipients and the total paid to each: J.Leopold £135, A. Peters £125, P. F. Tailored £lls,J.o.Vallance£Bo, T.Thompson £73, H. Hill £25, W. A. Donald -J823, A. Q'op4ou JBBO, T. BUaw JBW, W. Buckertdgo £lB, W, B. Dulok £lO, J, Jones £5, J. Ross £5, A. Burt 15, G. H.Yates 12; total £GSO.
'Mr P. F. Tancred's and Mr. A. Peters'h'orses left for Tauherenikau and Wellington respectively by yesterday afternoon's train. The Featherston hack contingent at the'same time took their departure through the Bush for a Hawkes Bay meeting, Mr Hill's team also goes to Tauherenikau, leaving by to-day's train.
We have to thank the Club's courteous and efficient secretary,. Mr T, Mackay, for information afforded to us both during and after the meeting.
