"AUSTRALIA"
Sydney, December 8. Sir He«ry Parkes, notwithstanding the opposition manifested to his proposal, still adheres to his intention of re-naming this Colony" Australia," In the Legislative Assembly to day, Mr Abbott gave notice that he intends to move that the colony of New South Wales be ro-named " The World." London, December 7. The Globo and the Daily News, in articles on the change of the name of New South Wales, ridicule the assumption of the'title of" Australia" by that colony. The Pall Mall Gazette on the same subject -says it affords another instance of the arrogance of Sir Henry Partes. A suggestion has been made to alter the name to" Silmia."
