CARTERTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
The spring show of the above Society was held on Wednesday last in the Lyceum Hall, and considering the lateness of the season there was a capital display of flowers, which were tastefully staged by .'the. The vegetable- exhibits .were--., ratals scarce and showed- the. effects.of. the:;, unfavorable season. The atteadafice. was somewhat limited afternoon, but wa9 very satisfactory, in the evening Mr A. Booth took the. lion's share of the prizes in pot plants, the professional gardeners' prize for forty-eight pot plants falling to Mr C. Thompson, of the Victoria Nursery, Masterton. The following were the judges: Pot plants and-cut flowers, Messrs Parks and Kempton, junior; vegetables, Messrs W.
