TINUI.

(Prom Our Own Correspondent.)

For the last 48 hours we have had a heavy downpour of rain from ; the North East. The Tinui and Wliareama rivers have a lieWy flood in them, almost as high, as the. May . flood. ■The Whareama bridge wasi about two feet under water, .and" tho Tiriuir Manawa road was covered to a great depth in- places.; It is feared t!oat a ; considerable amount of. damage will be done to tho roads and bridges, Thereiß a large slip,on the TinuiCastlepoint road,, near , O'Connor's place, which will stop dray traffic for a few days.- Unless flue" Weather comes' soon, shearing operations will-' be thrown very late on many of the stations. Those who have started are certainly not having a.happy time ofit. I hear that Mi; Handyside, who started, on the 'lst instant, has oily had one foil day's shearing, ta'dateilth. , •: '

The Telegraph office here, has been closed since the morning, of. tho 7th instant, the telegraphist being.- away on line duty. • ■. • '- Mr Hugh Bellis has been dangerously ill,' and Drs. Beard and. Charlton have been attending him, and I am pleased to hear that he is now considered to be out of dauger. It is freely reported here that Mr John Morrison, of Blaiylogie, has. purchased that portion of Messrs Elder's L'angdale ran known as the "Little Run." The price has not transpired. Mr Rogers, ot the Taueru, has also, I hear, purchased a 500 acre block. There is a great deal of sickness about this district lately, in the shape of influenza. I hear of sevoral people who are laid up from it. The body of Frank Lewis, who was drowned in the Akiteo River last week has not yet been recovered. It is very doubtful now if it ever will be.
