There wa3 only a little evidence for the defence, attempting to prove an alibi.. Tho jury were absent half-an-hour, and returned a verdict of guilty against tho thrco male Nativos, Te Hau, Aporo, and Te Uri; and not guilty against the woman. Te Hau and Te Uri, in reply to the usual question, said sentence ought not to bo passed on them. Aporo said nothing. The Chief Justice then passed tho 'scutonce of death in the usual manner.
