The Legislative Council met at 2,30 p.m.
Tho Wellington Gas Company's Extension Bill was read a third time,and passed. The Wellington University College Bill was postponed for a fortnight, avowedly to prevent it coming up again this session, and several other Bills were also deferred, Mr '■ Johnston moved the second reading of the Wellington Harbour Reclamation Bill, to givo effect to a compromise of a long standing dispute between the City Council and the Harbour Board. A lengthy discussion followed, and Mr Shrimski moved that the Bill be read that day six months, urging that the interests of bond holders would be jeopardised by passing the measuro in the present form. Other members expressed their opinion that great care should bo exercised in dealing with the Bill. The amendment was lost by 22 to 4, and the Council adjourned till 7.80.
