PAHIATUA ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary general meeting of the Board was held on 4th June, 1887. Present—Messrs Crewe, Miller, Wakeman, Corbett, Whitcomb, and • Gregg. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read from Village Settlers, asking for access to . their sections. From Treasury advising payment of Native
l'fttos 12514s 6d for 1886, arid 1887. The Overseer's report was read, also a statement by the Treasurer shewing' that rates to the amount of £221 Gs4d, were in arrears.. It was resolved that a Committee to consist of Messrs Crewe, Miller and the mover inspect the Mangarama bridge on the Toritea road and the proposed reli&f channel mentioned in Overseer's report. That a deputation from this; BoarH TTait upon the Cemetery. Trustees-at an early date with reference to'qpening a gravel pit on the Cemetery, reserve. That Mr Davie be written-to requesting him to remove any obstructions placed by him on the Mangarama road through Balfour's estateAo that settlers maybe able to.get -accuss to their sections. • That the Commissioner of Crown Lands be informed 'that the Board will give access to section 59Village Settlement as soon as the money is forthcoming that was promised by the Government to this Board for expenditure, in the Village Settlement, That Mr Reaney be informed that the Board have no funds werewith to erect a permanent bridge over creek Common to Rock and Mqjcakahi roads, requesting him to erect a rough Bridge as originally intended. That the Overseer be instructed to lay off a line on Baucke's Road, for' benching out a Oft track along sidings and creek crossings, to enable a contract to be let at an early date. That applications be made to the Wairavapa North County Council for share of , licensing fees duo to this Board, ae set forth in the Licensing Act, 185' ! That a letter be written to the - ter of Lands, explaining what action had been taken in regard to gMjfag access to Sections 1, 2, 8, 8, ■ Block IX, Makuri, and the impossibility of using either of the roads, viz,, along tlie [river, or Mr Lowes', and also that the Board was not in a position to do it, and requesting: that a practicable road bo surveyed-on the line suggested in the petition. That copy of a resolution re clearing tim-' ber off roads be forwarded to the Native Minister, and an account of expenses incurred in removing timber | off the North Tirauniea Road, which had fallen from the Native Reserve. That notice be given that all rates not paid on or before Wednesday, the 15th inat. be sued for at once: ' That applications be at once, made for balance of loan under the...Roads and Bridges Construction Adt," viz,, £4Ol. The Overseer's report was , adopted. Messrs Crewe, Miller, and ; Whitcombo wore appointed to accompany Mr Reaney through the Palliatua village settlement roads to point out where moneys mentioned m«ie schedule had been expended. -Jflcounts amounting to £67 17s Sd.Wre passed for payment.
