TINUI.

[FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] The weather during the past week lias been most enjoyable after the 'rain we have been having. Of course .we have had some very heavy frosts but tliey nnist be looked for at this time of the year. I am afraid, however, we are on the eve of a change, as, from the present aspect of the weather it looks as if we are in for a lot moro rain. If we got much rain on the roads in their present state it will be good-bye to most of the traffic. The opinion of moat ef the residents about here is, that the broad tires do the road a great deal more -tdamagothau the old drays did, and judging from what 1 see oil the roads I certainly think they do. I think that the County Council will find out that they have made a mistake in bringing in this bye-law, and if it is not rescinded it certainly requires amending. Nothing was done at the Library meeting last weelf, owing to so few of the Committee attending, but, as a meeting is called for this week, 1 trust all arrangements will bo made then for opening the branches. No time should he lost in doing this as we are getting through the winter, and there aro several enquiries as to when tho books will be ready for distribution. TkeUriti library, 1 believe, decline to move in the matter, so it will all have to be done from here. Poisoning is now in full swing in this district, and the frosty weather being favorable, it has been killing AVery.largo numbers, With careful hi., poisoning during the winter, I think the pest would receive such a check that they would afterwards be easily kept under. Arrangement s have now been finally made to hold a ball in the Hall on the 21st inst, and I hear that it is likely to be very successful.
