BENEVOLENT SOCIETY.

The ordiuary mooting of the North Wairarapa Benevolent Society was . held yesterday afternoon (Wednes- jjA day) in the Institute. Present,—Rowijjflfflffl W. E, Paige (Chairman) Rev. Battle/ and Messrs Gappor and Keith. The minulos of the last meeting were read and confirmod, mid the Treasurer reported a credit balance of £l6 8a fid. . Notifications wore received from the ' : North County and Borough Councils, ' to the effect that the applications for - aid would havo to bo mads by tho United District Board. A letter was read from the Wellington Sooiety refusing to acknowledge that Louis Podo belonged to their district. As Pode had evidently livod several years l in South Wairarapii, and was in a "■";, very weak state, it was decided .that ' the Society keep him for the present, with tho prospects of a refund from ', "■ - the South district. It was howevor thought that a difficulty might ariso as there was no; defined boundary in. ! ' 1 the Wairarapa". One new caso was reported, the man buing engaged stonebreaking, and appeared to be more willing than able- to work, as he Tvas evidently suffering from consumption. Accounts amounting to £BBGs .were passed for payment, among which were the following for goods supplied:. —Messrs M. Cnselberg & Co., 17 8s; Temple, £o 2s Od; Graham, £4 19s 6d; Wyeth, £8: -Feist, £2 10. The meeting then adjourned.
